Working holiday support

Your working holiday starts long before the plane.

The visa application, the insurance, the starting budget and the first days' paperwork. We prepare them together, in the right order.

First call free. No commitment.

If I think you do not need me, I will tell you that too.

A working holiday is not a trip.
It is a fixed term move.

You are not preparing two weeks of holiday. You are preparing a one year departure, with a visa application that has its own timeline, an insurance policy whose exclusions nobody reads, an arrival budget to stick to and paperwork to get through in the first days on the ground.

It is all online, including on this site, for free. But between reading the steps and putting your own application together, there is a step that many people take weeks to make.

What I tell you upfront

I put my own preparation together by going through the official sources one by one, and I am now there. So I support you on both ends of the subject: the application and the departure, which I have just done from start to finish, and life on the ground, which I am living right now.

What I tell you about the arrival and daily life is what I have seen and lived myself. When a question goes beyond my experience, I tell you rather than make something up, and I point you to someone or to the source that will know.

I do not fill in your visa application for you and I am not a migration agent. I help you get organised, I explain what I have understood of the rules, and I always point you to the official source.

What we prepare together

The visa 417 application What to gather, in what order, and when to apply so the entry date falls right.
Insurance What you really need to check in the policy, beyond the price on the home page.
The starting budget How much to leave with, and the cushion to keep for the weeks when nothing is coming in yet.
The first days on the ground Bank account, tax file number, SIM card, temporary accommodation. The order to do them in.
Job hunting Where to start depending on your arrival city, your season and the job you are aiming for.
The 88 days If you are aiming for a second visa, what specified work involves and when to get started.

One single package, tailored to your departure

For a trip, I offer three packages, because the requests are similar: an itinerary to review, an itinerary to build, a long trip to organise.

A working holiday, no. No two departures are ever alike. Your target date, your budget, the city you land in, the job you are looking for, the second visa you may or may not want, and above all what you have already done on your own. Cutting that into ready made packages would make no sense, so I do not.

Working holiday support

On quoteafter a first call, always free

We talk, we look at where you are, and I tell you what I would do in your place.

How it works:

  • We talk. You tell me about your plans, your target date and what is holding you back
  • We review what is already under way and what is still missing
  • I tell you honestly what I would do in your place, and in what order
  • I draw on my own preparation and on what I am living in Australia
  • And I offer you a price based on what you really need

The first call is free and commits you to nothing. You know the price before you say yes, and it does not change afterwards. If I think you can do it alone, I tell you during the call.

Book a call

I do not book anything for you and I earn nothing on your bookings: you stay in control of your money and your cancellations. The visa, insurance and ticket are of course paid by you.

How it works

  1. You write to meA message with your target departure date and where you are at. We set a time to talk.
  2. We talkWe go over your plans. At the end of the call, you know what I can bring you and how much it costs. It is free and commits you to nothing.
  3. We prepareIf you agree, we move forward together until you leave. If not, we leave it there, with no pressure.

No need to know what you need. That is what the call is for.

Talk about my departure

All the details are already online, for free

Every step of the working holiday is documented on this site, with nothing to pay. If you prefer to do it alone, you have everything you need.

The questions I get asked

Do you fill in my visa application?

No, and I am not a migration agent. I help you get organised, I explain what I have understood of the rules, and I always point you to the official source.

Are you already in Australia?

Yes, I am. I put my own preparation together from start to finish before leaving, and I am living the arrival right now. So I can talk to you about both, the application as well as daily life. And when a question goes beyond what I have lived myself, I tell you rather than make something up.

I leave in two weeks, is it too late?

The visa application has its own timeline and there is nothing I can do about it. For everything else, insurance, budget, first days and job hunting, two weeks is more than enough.

Do you earn a commission on the insurance you recommend?

Some links on this site are affiliate links and it says so on every page. It never changes what I recommend, and I never rank options by commission. As part of the support, I also tell you when a cheaper option would do the job.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your departure, and I cannot make it up before talking to you. The price is decided at the end of the first call, once we both know what you need. It is set at that point and does not change afterwards. The call itself is free.

I am not going on a working holiday, I am just travelling

Then the other page is the one you need, the one about help building an itinerary.

Let's start

Prepare your departure with me

Tell me when you are aiming to leave and where you are in your preparation. We set up a call, and at the end you know exactly what I can bring you and what it costs.

First call free. No commitment. And if I think you do not need me, I will tell you that too.
